Preparing Your Office for Professional Cleaning: What We Recommend

We clean everything from small local offices to commercial office space in Parsippany, during the day and after hours. Every building is different, but the offices that get the best results usually have a few things in place before our first visit. This is what I recommend. Some of it is how we work whenever a client allows or requires it, and some of it is advice we give every office manager.

Before our first visit

• Clear workspaces. Remove desk clutter, paperwork and personal items so surfaces can actually be wiped down.
• Secure valuables. Lock away cash, electronics and sensitive documents.
• Test keys, fobs and badges. Make sure the ones assigned to our team work before the first scheduled service, especially for an after-hours clean.
• Confirm utilities. Electricity, running water and enough lighting need to be on.
• Set entry rules. Tell us where to park, which loading zone or entrance to use, and which doors are authorized.

Alarm codes and after-hours access

For after-hours cleaning, I recommend giving each cleaner their own alarm code instead of one shared master code. That lets you see who came in and when, and you can turn off a single code at any time without changing everyone else's.

Many newer commercial buildings also use access systems that only let cleaning staff in during approved hours. If your building has one, ask your property manager to set the access window before the first night.

Whoever closes up, our team or yours, should do the same thing every time: walk through the space, set the alarm to the right mode, lock the main entry door and test the handle from outside to make sure the lock caught.
